BrightSign 'RS232 Serial' Interface Products

for Units with DB9 RS232 Serial Port

Important Information about Series 3 BrightSigns

The Serial Port on Series 3 BrightSigns is changed to a Stereo connector and no longer supplies 5V as required by most of our RS232 interface boards.  You will need to order the ST-DB9-5V adapter in order to interface to any Series 3 BrightSigns.  This adapter requires 5V power supply (2.1mm jack provided).  Most of the RS232 interface boards have equivalent USB interfaces.

Because all of this product was developed for use with BrightSign products, we are in the process of phasing out RS232 interfaces.  Important!  If you order RS232 products for use with 'Non BrightSign Products', please contact us and inform us that you wish us to continue with products that you specifically use.

ST-DB9-5V ADAPTER

Price Each: $7.50 (USD)

Series 3 'Serial' Adapter

Use this adapter with any RS232 interface board that utilizes the 5V supplied on the DB9 connector from Legacy BrightSigns.  Order a 5V power supply (2.1mm jack) if you need it.

LED Output Module

LED-8-OM

Price Each: $3 (USD)

This LED 'Output Module' provides the developer with a quick and easy 'visual' way to verify programming.  Connect this board to the HMS board and you will have a visual on the result of your programming. Can be used with 3.3v or 12V interface voltages. Note: Some I/O's on the HMS board are inverted, just bend the connection wires and rotate the board 180 to get proper orientation of the Output numbers.  For 6 amp Terminal Blocks LED-8-OM

RS232 Serial Adapters

 DB9-5V-DB9 (5 Volt Adapter)

Price Each: $7.00 (USD)

Use this adapter to 'inject' the 5 volts required on HMS 'Serial Interface Products' that do not have the 5 volt regulator on board.  This is handy when using a computer to test HMS Serial Products that were designed exclusively for BrightSign use.
Note: Also required if using USB-RS232 Serial Adapter

Please inquire if you have a custom requirement for interfacing!  Turn around can be a little as two weeks.

Note: External Supply Voltage:  An External Power Supply is needed to power the loads on the output connector.  Do not connect any loads that have their own power that exceeds the power as applied to the board using the 'Ext. Power Connector'.  Doing so may result in damage to the board.  I.E. Suppose that 12 volts is supplied to this board and you have a relay board with it's own power of 24Volts DC that powers the relays.  The 24VDC will feed back into the board via the foldback diodes.  Note: Foldback diodes are required for inductive loads such as relays or small motors.
