PIR-Z

'Passive Infrared Motion Detector' Suitable for BrightSigns with w/GPIO or use with HMS 'Input boards'

Features:

• 3.3 volt or 5 volt operation (direct connection to the various HMS interface boards)
• Up to 8 PIR's can be connected to the GPIO of the BrightSign.  More if using HMS USB I/O boards

The RJ12 connections are as follows (requires 6 conductor telephone cable)

Note: Because the pairs of wires are tied together, it is not necessary to use polarized cables.

Note: It is recommended that both wires be tied together as specified below)

Wire Identification:

• 0V = Red and Green (GPIO-0V) (RJ12 pins 3,4)
• 3.3V = Black and Yellow (GPIO-3V) (RJ12 pins 2,5) or tie to 5V on most HMS Interface Boards
• MD (Motion Detect goes low with detection) = Blue and White  (GPIO-BTNx) (RJ12 pins 1,6)

Description:

The 'Z-dots' PIR board is utilized and is mounted to the right end of the 'mother board' as show in the picture above.

This 'Z-dots'  board has sensitivity range from about 25ft to 3ft.  Counter-clockwise (from the box access) is maximum sensitivity or about 20 to 25 feet.  Clockwise the sensitivity is about 3 or 4 feet

The Pulse Delay adjust the duration of the 'move detection' pulse.  Counter clockwise (from the box access) is minimum pulse duration (about 2 seconds).  Clockwise is maximum pulse duration of about 12 minutes.  This feature is not linear.  Very little clockwise movement of the pot sets several to many seconds of detection pulse duration.

Note: The PIR 'averages' the scene over time.  It may take a couple of minutes for 'storing' the scene in memory after power up.

Note: Does not work through glass.
