BrightSign Interface Products

BrightSign GPIO (Series 3 & 4) Interface Board

For all BrightSign units w/TB12 Terminal Blocks

8 Inputs or 8 Outputs (or a combination of 8 Input/Outputs)

PH-8-I0

Formerly: GPIO-S3-8-IO

Features:

*****************************************************************

This I/O board is designed for simple inputs/outputs.  A total of 8 inputs or 8 outputs.  If 4 external inputs are utilized, then that leaves 4 outputs to be controlled by the BrightSign.

Note: The BrightSign powers up with all 'GPIO Inputs' being pulled high.  This board has an inverter chip (U1) that inverts the levels of 'inputs'. The 'Inputs' are tied directly to the 'Inverter chip'.  So when an input is pulled low (either by external button or by the BrightSign GPIO settings), then the associated driver transistor is turned on via the inverter chip U1.

Note: There is a diode (D9) for using the BrightSign 3 volts to drive the external loads (LED's).  The current limit of the BrightSign is 300 milliamps.  If the output load current (total) exceeds 300 milliamps, then the external power jack must be utilized for higher current.  The diode 'D9' prevents external voltage feeding back to the BrightSign.
